Cynthia M. (Epstein) Katz
Herkimer, NY

Beloved wife, best friend and soul mate for 65 years of Sidney M. Katz passed away suddenly and peacefully on February 24, 2009.
Together they had three daughters, Cheryl Rundle of Schuyler, Jo M. Katz of Albany, and Judy Whittaker of Frewsburg, and two son-in-laws, Bryan and Dennis.
She was proud to serve Sabbath dinner to her family, including grandchildren Michael Rundle and his wife, Eleni, Jennifer, Samuel and Benjamin Whittaker.
She found grandparenting to be fulfilling and fun.
She will also be mourned by her step sister, Vivian Smith, and lifetime friends, Heather Bates and Joanne Collins. She joins her confidante, Elaine Katz, who predeceased her.
Cynthia also will be missed by her sister-in-law, Ethel and her husband, Harry Chaifetz; brother-in-law, Daniel Katz; cousin, Barbara Ostroff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Although she lived in Upstate New York for 51 years, she maintained her Massachusetts accent. Graduating from Herkimer County Community College at age 54 was a source of pride. Her best memories were of being a Teacher Aide in the Herkimer School District.
Arrangements are through Jacobson Funeral Home. The funeral will be at Temple Beth Joseph located on 327 North Prospect Street, Herkimer, New York 13350. Service will be on Thursday, February 26, at 2:00 p.m. Shiva will be observed in her daughter's home at 7:00 p.m. that evening at 135 Woods Lane, Schuyler, New York.
Donations in Cynthia's name may be made to Temple Beth Joseph or a charity of your choice.
