Mrs. Beatrice Van Curen LaPorte, 85, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, 2009, in the Faxton-St. Lukes Health Care Center, New Hartford. Beatrice was born on May 22, 1924, in Utica, the daughter of the late James and Ethel Rosen Van Curen, and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. She married Albert LaPorte. Prior to her retirement, Beatrice owned and operated Beas Restaurant, Columbia Street, Utica. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Charleen Ryan and Don Frawley, of Aberdeen, WA, John LaPorte, of Utica, Tony and Barb LaPorte, of Boonville, and Tina and Peter Acquaviva, of New Hartford; her step-children, Donna Maunz, Carla LaPorte and Alberta Tate; her grandchildren, Michael Gough, Jennifer and Dominick Dote, Shane LaPorte, Brianna Ryan, and Alyssa and Emily Acquaviva; and her sister, Ruth Siuta, of Cherry Hill, NJ. Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Albert; her brother, Morris Van Curen; and her sister, Lillian Pawlek. Her funeral will be held 12:00 PM, Tuesday, from the Jacobson-Pizer Funeral Chapel, Inc., 1123 Court Street, Utica. Interment will be in the House of Jacob Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Beatrices family would like to thank her friend, Gloria, and her aide, Mary, for all of their help. They would also like to thank Faxton-St. Lukes Health Care Cardiac Unit and Dr. Andrew Faber for all of their loving and compassionate care they showed Beatrice.
