Rose M. Schecter, 88, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2015, in The Pines at Utica, where she had been a resident. She was born on November 19, 1926, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Louis and Celia Samuels Sumberg.
Rose was a graduate of Little Falls High School. On August 17, 1947, in Little Falls, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Harold Schecter. Mr. Schecter passed away December 11, 2002.
For many years, Rose was a legal secretary for Grossman, Schwartz and Pozefsky. She was a long time member of Temple Beth El and former Sisterhood president and trustee. Rose loved spending time with her family, especially the many times in Old Forge.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mary Schecter, of Sarasota, FL; her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Edward Coiro, of Toms River, NJ; her grandchildren, Dr. Sara and Benjamin Giorgi, of Marcy, Damon Coiro and fiancee, Victoria Santiago and Devon and Eric Naglee, of Greensboro, NC; her great-grandchildren, Samara Giorgi, and Owen, Carson and Dawson Naglee; her sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Edward Skoletsky, of Pittsfield, MA; her sister-in-law, Pauline Sumberg, of Utica; and her nieces and nephews, Louis Skoletsky, Barry Skoletsky, Brian Sumberg, Rochelle Sumberg, Lois Flynn and Joseph Kushner; and her special friend, Donna Reilly.
Rose was predeceased by her brother, Larry Sumberg, and her grandson, Abe Schecter.
Rose's funeral and shiva were held privately at the convenience of the family.
