Helen A. Levy, 92, New Hartford, died January 30, 2017, peacefully at home.She was born June 13, 1924, in Utica to Minnie (Tumposky) Toffler and Bernard Toffler, formerly of London, England. She graduated from New Hartford High School, Class of 1942. She attended New York University and, prior to marriage, worked at the Tumposky, Tumposky and Damsky Law Firm in Utica. She married Harry Levy, MD, of Cincinnati, Ohio, on August 6, 1944.Helen was active in local organizations including Hadassah, Temple Emanu-El, the New Hartford School District Foundation, the New Hartford Alumni Association, The Community Foundation and the New Hartford High School Alumni Memorial Scholarship Fund.
She is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Pruskin, of London, England, and Louise Schaper (Len) of Naples, Florida; two grandchildren, Ben Pruskin (Naomi Fox), of Altadena, California, and Claire Moitra (Ethan), of Providence, Rhode Island; and two great-grandchildren, Toby Pruskin and Miles Moitra. Many nieces and nephews survive her. Her husband, Harry Levy, and a brother, Allan H. Toffler, preceded her in death.
Helen's graveside service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017, in Temple Beth El Cemetery with Rabbi Cassi Kail, officiating. Lunch at Temple Emanu-El following cemetery service.
Shiva will be observed 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017 and 12-2 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2017 at the family home
