Arthur L. Yagoda, 85, of Rome and long time resident of Ridge Rd., Utica, passed away peacefully, October 10, 2014, in the Imogene Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown.
He was born on March 25, 1929, in Brooklyn, the son of the late George Gershon and Sarah Goldstein Yagoda.
Art was a graduate of Brooklyn schools and the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy. On June 6, 1953, he married the former Rosalind Levine in Brooklyn. Mr. and Mrs. Yagoda came to Utica in 1958 and were long time residents until her passing on November 12, 2009
. Prior to his retirement in 1993, Art was a Pharmacist with the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center for many years. He was a long time dedicated member of Congregation Zvi Jacob and past president of Ba'ad Hachol. Art was a former member of the International Order of Odd Fellows.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Harold and Sue Yagoda, of Lee, MA, and Benjamin Yagoda, of Rochester; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Art was predeceased by his son, Joseph Yagoda, and his sister, Dorothy Yagoda.
Art will be remembered as a hard working man who was devoted to his religion and greatly loved his family, friends and life itself
. Art's funeral will be 12 p.m. (Noon), Monday, October 13, 2014, in Tifereth Zvi Cemetery, Wood Road, Whitesboro, with Rabbi Howard Matasar officiating. Shiva will be observed privately by the family.
